How WealthWise labels advertisements, sponsored placements, partner offers and referral links, and what is never shared with partners.

Updated Sep 2026

WealthWise is free to use. To cover its costs, the site may show advertisements, sponsored placements, partner offers or referral links. This page explains how each of those is labeled, where it can appear, and what stays off limits.

WealthWise may receive compensation when users interact with certain partner offers.

How things are labeled

Any placement that could earn compensation carries a visible label right next to it. The labels used are:

  • Advertisement: a paid ad served through an advertising network. Not written or chosen by WealthWise.
  • Sponsored: a placement a partner has paid for. The content is the partner's, and the label says so.
  • Partner offer: an offer from a partner that may pay WealthWise if you interact with it.
  • Referral link: a link that may earn WealthWise a referral fee if you follow it and sign up or buy.
  • WealthWise guide: editorial content written by the site with no partner involvement, shown with this label where it sits alongside partner content so the two cannot be confused.

If something is not labeled, it is ordinary editorial content: articles, calculator explanations, the methodology and the pages like this one.

Where these features appear

Partner and advertising placements appear only in fixed positions: after the limitations section on a calculator page, at the end of a learning article, in a side rail on very wide screens, and below the fold on the home page. They never appear inside a calculator: not among the inputs, not in the results, not in the charts and not in the comparison view.

When a feature is turned off, it is absent entirely. There is no empty space reserved for it, no hidden element and no script loaded on its behalf. At launch all of these features are off.

Advertising is non-personalized

When advertising is enabled, WealthWise requests non-personalized ads only. Ads are chosen based on the page you are viewing, not on a profile of you, and this setting is locked in the site's configuration rather than left to chance. Where an ad network requires consent before it can run at all, a consent banner appears and nothing loads until you decide.

Your inputs are never shared

No calculator input is shared with advertisers, partners or referral destinations. The amounts, rates, balances and payments you type stay in your browser and, if you have left it on, in your anonymous encrypted session. Partners see none of it, and no placement can read what you entered. The privacy page describes the technical details.

Referral links pass through a short first-party redirect on this site before reaching the partner. That redirect records only that the link was clicked; it carries no information about you or your calculations. Referral links are marked so that search engines treat them as sponsored.

What compensation does not change

Compensation never affects the calculators. The formulas, assumptions, defaults and results are the same whether or not any partner feature is present, and no partner can influence them. Compensation also does not affect which articles are written or what they say.
