Privacy

What WealthWise does and does not do with your data, in plain language: no personal information, anonymous sessions, cookieless analytics.

Updated Sep 2026

This page describes, in plain language, what actually happens to the information you type into WealthWise and what the site records about your visit. It is written to be read, not skimmed past, and it describes technical behavior rather than legal promises.

No personal information

WealthWise never asks for your name, email address, phone number, street address or any account details. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to log in to. The calculators and the learning library work without knowing who you are, and the site does not store personal information about you.

Where your calculator inputs live

The numbers you enter into a calculator are saved in your own browser, so they are still there when you come back on the same device.

By default, they are also saved in an anonymous server session so that your work can be restored on a fresh visit. That session is identified only by a random id, stored in a strictly necessary cookie, and the saved inputs are encrypted at rest. The cookie is set the first time you change an input, never on a plain page view, and the site tells you once, inline, when that happens. It contains no personal information: only the random id.

The session is kept for 7 days after your last change and then deleted automatically. This period is a live setting, so the value shown here is always the one currently in effect.

You are in control of this at all times:

  • To stop saving to the server, turn off server persistence in Settings › Privacy. The existing session is deleted immediately and nothing further is sent.
  • To erase everything, use "Forget me" in Settings › Privacy. This deletes the server session, clears the inputs saved in your browser and clears your recent-calculator list.

Analytics

WealthWise uses first-party analytics to understand which pages and calculators are used. They are cookieless and pseudonymous: each day, a truncated version of your network address and your browser family are combined into a same-day hash that cannot be linked across days. No analytics event ever contains a financial value. The dollar amounts, rates, balances and payments you type are never sent to analytics; only coarse categories such as "which calculator", "which feature" and rounded time buckets are recorded.

Global Privacy Control

If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal (or a Do Not Track signal), WealthWise honors it. Analytics are not started for your visit, and any optional feature that would need consent is treated as declined.

A consent banner appears only when a feature that needs it, such as third-party advertising, has been turned on. When no such feature is enabled, there is no banner, because there is nothing to consent to.

Advertising and partner features

Advertisements, partner offers and referral links can be enabled on the site, and when they are, they are clearly labeled and appear only outside the calculators. No financial input you enter is ever shared with an advertising provider, an analytics provider or a partner. The disclosures page explains how these features are labeled.

Changes and questions

If the way the site handles data changes, this page is updated and the date at the top reflects it. Questions about anything described here can be sent through the contact channel listed on the about page.

This page describes the technical controls WealthWise uses. It is not a claim of compliance with any specific law.
